The most convenient way to send us your photo is to upload it online free of charge. If you wish to do so, we will send you a letter with a one-time password. You don't have to do anything until you receive this letter - not even if you have just turned 15 and don't yet have a photo on your card.
More details
Once you have received your password, simply go to our website, enter the ten-digit one-time password and upload your digital photo.
Note: Please upload just one photo at a time.
Ideally, you should send a recent photo. The photo does not have to be biometric, however it should meet the following requirements:
- Size: approx. 45 by 35 mm
- Pixel: at least 300 by 400
- File format: jpg, jpeg, bmp, png
- Colour: coloured or black and white
- Background: as neutral as possible
- Shot: face clearly recognisable, photographed from the front
A new photo is only required every ten years
Your photo for your TK eHealth card will be digitalised and the digital photo stored at TK. This allows us to reuse your photo in the event of loss or theft of your card. Therefore, you do not have to submit a new photo in such a case.
If the submitted photo on your eHealth card is more than ten years old, it will be deleted by TK in compliance with the Patientendaten-Schutz-Gesetz [German Patient Data Protection Act]. We shall inform you whether we require a new photo prior to sending your new card.
Since 20 October 2020, photos for the TK eHealth card may only be stored for the duration of the insurance relationship, however no longer than ten years, in accordance with the German "Patientendaten-Schutz-Gesetz".
