More details
Cancer screening examinations for women are usually performed by a gynaecologist. Men are usually screened by urologists, general practitioners or specialists in internal medicine.
The following doctors are permitted to perform colonoscopies for the early detection of colon cancer:
- specialists in internal medicine provided they are qualified to perform "endoscopic colon examinations"
- gastroenterologists and surgical specialists, provided they are authorised to perform colonoscopies and colonoscopic polypectomies (polyp removal)
Health check-ups for men and women can be performed by general practitioners, primary care physicians, specialists in internal medicine as well as doctors who do not specialise in any particular field.
