We may only cover the costs of medically necessary services that people insured in your destination country would also receive and which cannot wait until your return. This is why we strongly advise you to take out private supplementary insurance for trips abroad.

Show your TK eHealth card abroad
In most European countries, you can use your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) for your visit to the dentist. You will find the EHIC on the back of your TK eHealth card. We have compiled a list of countries where you can use the EHIC.
Countries where the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is valid
The EHIC can only be used for visits to statutory health insurance physicians under contract to the respective health insurance provider abroad. We therefore advise you to ask your tour guide, your landlord or the hotel receptionist for information. Our TK-TravelMediCall service can also help you find a dentist.

Dental treatment on account
If your EHIC was not accepted and you had to pay the costs of your dental visit yourself, it is essential that you have the dentist issue a detailed invoice.
Submit invoices for reimbursement (only available in German language)
Additional cover
The services covered abroad are often very restricted, particularly if you need to see a dentist. This means you may have to bear part or all of the costs yourself.
The travel health insurance plans offered by TK's cooperation partner Envivas provide excellent insurance cover.
