Yes, the costs of gynaecological cancer screening are billed to us directly using your TK eHealth card.
More details
- From the age of 20, the doctor may examine the genitalia annually. They will also take a sample from the cervical canal and have it examined for cancer cells.
- From the age of 30, they will examine your breasts and the neighbouring lymph nodes by palpation annually. You will additionally be instructed on how to perform regular self-checks.
- From the age of 35, they will perform a pap smear (to obtain material from the cervical canal) every three years and also test you for HPV. The HPV test determines whether the cervix is infected with human papillomavirus.
- Between the ages of 50 and 75 years, you can undergo a mammography screening every 24 months.
- Eligible women between the ages of 50 and 69 will receive an invitation from a test centre.
- Eligible women aged 70 to 75 will not receive a personal invitation, but may schedule an examination with their test centre as of 1 July 2024.
Mammography screening is offered in centres which specialise in the early detection of breast cancer. Are you still waiting for an invitation? If so, please contact your local centre directly.
Many doctor's surgeries also offer ultrasound examinations of the breasts or womb. These are not part of the statutory screening examinations, which means they can only be invoiced privately. We may not reimburse these costs.
