1. Fundamentals

TK-Fit encourages users to lead a more active lifestyle. To this end, Techniker Krankenkasse (TK) collects, processes, uses and stores the following personal data:

  • Date of participation
  • Weekly targets which have been met and not met
  • Start and end date of individual fitness measures
  • Active and expired voucher codes from partner companies
  • Completed lessons for each TK-Fit Challenge
  • Pseudonymised fitness tracker user IDs
  • Selected external data sources
  • Date of data source changes

The actual number of steps taken, distances covered and lessons are not transmitted to TK. They are only displayed temporarily on the smartphone. Manually defined step targets and lessons are only saved locally on the smartphone.

We have commissioned the company mHealth Pioneers GmbH* with their Thryve service. This means we are able to offer a product that allows all the relevant data sources for different activities to be used and also provides further motivational offers.

Thryve from mHealth Pioneer GmbH provides an interface with a large range of data sources and trackers that you can use in TK-Fit. mHealth only stores the activity data on our behalf that you need to use TK-Fit.

As soon as you have given your consent, the following happens at Thryve:

  • You will be registered with an automatically generated and pseudonymised user ID.
  • Your activity data (e. g., steps), which are required for TK-Fit to function, are retrieved from your data source account (e. g., Garmin, Google Fit, etc.) and stored by Thryve. Other activity data that your provider may transmit to Thryve that is not relevant for TK-Fit will be deleted immediately by Thryve.
  • To ensure that your existing activity data can be displayed correctly in TK-Fit, Thryve retrieves activity data retroactively for up to 3 months after the initial connection. This is not possible with Polar data sources.
  • Your data will also be deleted at Thryve when you stop participating in TK-Fit.
  • Your data will also be automatically deleted by Thryve if no data has been retrieved for 3 months, i. e., if you have not accessed TK-Fit for 3 months.

Activity data cannot be transmitted directly between the data source and Thryve with certain data sources. For this reason, the connection is created using the TK-App. That is why the data is transferred automatically in the background at regular intervals. This is only necessary for the following data sources:

  • Apple Health
  • Google Fit/Health Connect
  • Samsung Health

The company Significo Health GmbH (formerly Vilua Healthcare GmbH)* also processes and stores personal data such as a pseudonymised user ID, authentication token and achieved targets. This data is automatically deleted if no data is retrieved for 6 months.

2. Deletion

To delete the data you have stored with mHealth Pioneers GmbH and Significo Health GmbH, simply end or revoke your participation in TK-Fit. The data stored by you will then be automatically deleted by the service providers.

3. Revocation

Consent is voluntary and can be revoked at any time. Revocation during an ongoing fitness measure will result in immediate termination and any claims within the scope of the TK Bonus Plan will cease to be valid. All data will be deleted upon revocation or termination of participation. You cannot participate in the TK-Fit programme without providing your consent. You can exercise your rights to correction, information, restriction and deletion vis-à-vis TK at any time.
